Data Science is one of the most smoking jobs in the world, but let’s have a reality check. Nigeria isn’t like other countries and the foremost prevailing part within the data market is that of a Data Analyst (which is in some cases utilized traded with Data Science). Data Science roles are a bit constrained in Nigeria and still a developing field in Nigeria.

2. It’s a long term path

Are you looking for a short-term path where you can easily start earning money and never have to upskill? Or you are willing to give yourself months, if not years to develop yourself, constantly learning and updating yourself? Data Science is a multidiscipline consisting of Computer science/IT, Mathematics and Statistics, and domain knowledge in the field. You need the perfect dose of the above-mentioned to function as a Data Scientist. This is a long path, but nothing good comes easy.

3. Optimize the use of Social Media:

Use social media to reach out to people that have been experienced in the field or currently working in positions that are of interest to you. Having a clear path from the experiences of others will go a long way for you. LinkedIn, Twitter, Reddit, Quora are great platforms that can be utilized.

4. Learn a programming language:

Data scientists are required to become proficient in a programming language such as R or python. Although, a few parts don’t require you to have programming skills.

5. Mathematics and Statistics:

Having knowledge of mathematics and statistics will be a bonus for you(Fundamental Subjects such as Linear Algebra, Calculus, Probability, and other fundamentals). In the event that you’re not great at maths, not to stress, the utilize of mathematics changes via organizations and isn’t a major necessity in a lot of organizations.

6. Continuous learning:

In case you’re frantic(desperate), impatient, apathetic, and not do not like nonstop learning, Data Science might not be the career path for you. It takes a lot of drive, Self-inspiration, and consistency.

Conclusion

Data Science is an amazing career path that consists of a lot of roles with tons. Data Scientists work in all fields and the demand for data scientists is as high as ever.
